Re: Sound in Windows VMware Post by TheCollector » Wed Feb 11, pm If your vmx file has no trace of sound, it is probably emulating an es sound chipset, which is supported in win out of the box as of build unless you have specified sb16 as the default sound card in your vmx config file. Joined Mar 9, Messages I have three Gateway computers at work that I am going to be giving away for use in another venue of the agency where I work. The IT wiped the hard drive and installed on them. He got all the drivers from the internet. I have no sound on these three machines now. I went into Sound and Multimedia Properties. It says "no playback devices" and is grayed out. I opened Multimedia and then Sound Device. Then you need to install the Audio drivers. Do you have them? If not, do you know where to get them? Can you ask the IT guy?

You can check that when you set your default output audio device. In the search box on the taskbar, type control panel , then select it from the results.

In the search box on the taskbar, type services , then select it from the results. Select each of the following services, right-click, and then select Restart :. On the Advanced tab, under Default Format , change the setting, select OK ,and then test your audio device. If that doesn't work, try changing the setting again. If that didn't solve your problem, continue to the next tip.

Check your cables, plugs, jacks, volume, speaker, and headphone connections. Try these steps Check your speaker and headphone connections for loose cords or cables. Make sure the mute setting is not turned on, and try turning up all the volume controls.
